Q-E space planning
DGS Planner
The DGS Planner tool is to help users understand the coverage of Q and E space provided by the instrumental configuration.
To start the DGS planner tool type mantidworkbench
or mantidworkbenchnightly
on the command line of the analysis computer.
Then select the Interfaces > Direct > DGS Planner window as shown in Figure 1.

The DGS Planner tool will start and look like Figure 2.

Choose the instrument

Choose the incident Energy

Enter the lattice parameters

Enter the u and v vectors for the crystal. The u vector is the vector along the incident beam when the goniometer angle is 0. v is perpendicular and in the horizontal plane to u.

Enter the max, min and angle step for the calculations.

Enter the vectors to show what projection you want to see in the plot.

Click plot
The result should look something like this where the color indicates what will be measured for each angle setting.
