Analysis machines
ORNL neutron sciences provides computing resources for helping to work with your data acquired at the beamlines. Here are the methods to access them.
During your experiment
In the instrument cabin there are two terminals for analysis
-
Arcs 1 is directly connected to the computer and you log in with your neutron sciences (XCAMS) user name and password
-
The other analysis terminal is a thinclient that can connect to ARCS1.sns.gov, BL18-remote.sns.gov, or analysis.sns.gov. A thin client means that it is a virutal session on the aforementioned machine. You can disconnect your session and come back to it at a later time or log in via the thinlinc client or a web browser on another machine.
- wiggle the mouse or click on the keyboard to get started.
- type in the name of the machine you want to access.
- type in your user name and password.
- if after waking up the screen, it says that it is locked by another user, Press F8 and then select disconnect. You will then get a window where you can log in. Note that disconnect does not log the other user out. It only disconnects them. They can reconnect at a later time right where they were.
Logging into analysis.sns.gov
-
Navigate in a web browser to https://analysis.sns.gov to use xcams or ucams userID and password to login.
-
The website also has a link to the thinlinc client. This client provides slightly more functionality than the accessing the analysis machines via the web page.
-
If you do not have an xcams account, please navigate to https://user.ornl.gov/Account/Login and use the Register link to create an account.
